At CIS Home Loans, we realize that we are fortunate to have been given a good job with kind and caring leadership. Living in this fact made us all see the blessings that we had received and moved us, in compassion, to do something to help others.
Our “Love for Others” charity began when a family in our small town was struck by a tragic house fire causing the loss of their previous children, home, and all of their belongings. Wordly items can be replaced, but the loss of a child is a void that can never be completely healed. We at CIS longed to do something to help this family, so we got together as a team an discussed our options.
The approaching Valentine’s Day holiday inspired the idea behind our annual bake sale. We came to the conclusion that all of the funds raised at the sale would go to the family. We all baked a homemade goody, decorated our office, and put our baked goods on display early that Valentine’s Day. The sale kicked off earlier than we imagined and before we opened, we had already sold much of what we had made, creating a fear that we would not have enough goods to sell. That is when God’s abundant blessings started to pour into our office. Multitudes of people from our community brought in baked goods for us to sell, as well as purchasing items for themselves. We were blown away by how our community stood behind us and helped us work toward our goal of helping this precious family. At close of business that day, we had sold almost everything and were shocked by the amount of money we had raised. Paula Reeves, CIS Home Loans President, was able to present a check to assist in recovery expenses to the patriarch of the family. It was a day we will never forget.
Since its inception in 2012, Love for Others has raised and donated more than $30,000 through in-house fundraisers, including our annual Valentine’s Day bake sale. We give all our thanks to God for the opportunity and ability to help others and know that none of our efforts would be possible without his guidance.
